The plan in the app
- The trainee sees every training plan that is Active in app. With more than one, a switcher lets them move between plans.
- Each training day shows as a card. The app suggests the day after the last one they completed as the next workout.
- Opening a day first shows a preview of the workout. The trainee starts it when ready.
- A PDF or link plan opens as a file or a site instead of a list of days. See PDF and link plans.
During a workout
What you set in the builder and where it lands:
The trainee also sees their previous numbers for each exercise, so they know what to beat.
Workout time estimate
The app shows an estimated duration for each workout. It is calculated from the plan, not from the trainee’s history. The estimate is:
The result is rounded to whole minutes.
Example. Seven exercises, three sets each, 12 reps and 60 seconds of rest, with one exercise that has no rest:
- Work: 7 × 3 × 12 × 3 seconds = 756 seconds
- Rest: 6 × 3 × 60 seconds = 1,080 seconds
- Total with buffer: 1,836 × 1.1 = about 2,020 seconds, which shows as 34 minutes
Personal records
A personal record, shown as PR, marks a set that beats the trainee’s best for that exercise. The same rule is used in the trainee app and in the coach web app.Weighted exercises
A set is a record when both of these are true:- Its weight is higher than the heaviest counted set the trainee has logged for that exercise before.
- Its reps are at least 80 percent of the reps you prescribed. For a rep range, the low end is used.
- More reps at the same weight is not a record. The weight has to go up.
- A heavy set with too few reps does not count. With 10 reps prescribed, the trainee needs at least 8.
- A set that falls under the 80 percent mark never becomes the number to beat later.
Bodyweight exercises
A set with no weight is judged by reps. More reps than the previous best is a record. The 80 percent check does not apply. Any weighted set beats a bodyweight best for the same exercise.Older workouts
Workouts logged before this rule existed did not save the prescribed reps with each set. Those sets count by weight alone.Where you see records
- On the trainee card, the tracking views for Workouts & steps show New PRs and a Personal records (PR) list.
- In a workout’s details, a set that was a record carries a PR tag.
