Two things can stand between a trainee and the app: a paused or ended subscription, and an old app version. This page covers both.

Frozen or ended subscriptions

Whether a trainee can still use the app depends on two things on your side: the state of their subscription, and the setting that leaves app access on while it is not active. A trainee with no subscription dates at all is never locked. A subscription queued to start after the current one keeps the app open, so there is no gap between two plans.

The note for a trainee who keeps access

  • Home shows a card Training plan on hold with You can still use the app. Contact your trainer to resume your plan.
  • Profile shows the subscription with a Paused badge and the same line.
  • The Forms to fill card is hidden on the home screen while the plan is frozen.
Everything else works as usual.

The lock screen

A locked trainee sees one screen, with a snowflake icon:
Training plan on hold. Your trainer paused your training plan. Contact them to resume it.
Under it is the studio name and up to three buttons:
  • Contact trainer, which opens a WhatsApp chat with the coach. It appears only when a coach or studio WhatsApp number is set.
  • Sign out.
  • Delete account, with the same confirmation as on the profile.
While locked:
  • the tabs, plans, meals, forms and content cannot be opened,
  • tapping a notification does not open anything inside the app,
  • the app keeps checking in the background. When you unfreeze or renew the subscription, the lock lifts the next time the trainee opens the app or brings it to the front. They do not sign in again.
A trainee who belongs to more than one studio can still reach the studio picker when one of the studios locked them. They pick the other studio and use the app there.

What to tell a client

If a client says the app shows Training plan on hold and nothing else, their subscription is frozen or its end date has passed, and access was not left on. Renew or unfreeze the subscription, or turn on the access setting on their trainee card.

The update prompt

When a newer version of the app is in the store, the app asks the trainee to update. The popup reads Update the app for you! with:
Dear trainee, it’s important to update your app version to enjoy all the new features and fixes.
It has one button, Update Version, and an X to close it.
  • Update Version opens the app’s page in the App Store or Google Play.
  • The X closes the popup for the rest of that day. It comes back the next day the app is opened, until the trainee updates.

When it appears

  • When the app is opened and the trainee is signed in.
  • After the notification and health questions, never on top of them.
  • Only when the installed version is older than the version currently set as the latest for that platform. iPhone and Android are tracked separately.
  • Not while a workout is running. The app waits for a later launch.
The update is a reminder, not a block. A trainee who closes it keeps using the version they have.

Why updating matters

Some features need a newer version of the app from the store, for example ones that use the camera, health data or the lock screen in a new way. A trainee on an old version may not see a feature you are describing to them. If a client says a screen looks different from this guide, ask them to update first.
