Removing a team member ends their access to the studio right away. Before that happens, Perform asks what to do with the work that is in their name. Only the owner and admins can remove a team member. The owner cannot be removed.

Remove someone

1

Open the actions menu

On Business settings, Team, open the actions menu on the person’s row and choose Remove team member.
2

Read what is assigned to them

The dialog is titled with Delete and the person’s name. If they have open tasks or assigned trainees, it reads “This staff member has open tasks and trainees assigned to them. What would you like to do with them?” and shows two sections. If nothing is assigned, it reads “This staff member will lose access right away. This cannot be undone.”
3

Decide on their open tasks

The Open tasks section shows how many are open.
  • Assign to: pick one or more team members.
  • Discard tasks for this member: the tasks are dropped for this person.
4

Decide on their trainees

The Assigned trainees section shows how many trainees they have.
  • Assign to: pick one or more team members.
  • Just remove the staff member from assigned trainees: the person is taken off each trainee and nobody replaces them.
5

Confirm

Press Delete team member. You see “Team member dismissed”.

How the hand-over works

Picking several people

If you select more than one team member, the items are split evenly across all of them, one after another.

Shared tasks

A task shared with other members stays open for them. It is only discarded for the person you remove. A task is fully dropped only when nobody else is on it.

Trainees with other coaches

Trainees keep their other coaches. When you choose to only remove the staff member, a trainee who had no other coach is left without one. Those trainees appear under the No coach filter on the trainee board.
After removing someone without a hand-over, open the trainee board, filter by No coach and assign the trainees. See Assigning coaches.

What happens to the person

  • They lose access to the studio immediately. If they try to work in it, they are refused.
  • They disappear from the active team and no longer take a seat in your Perform plan.
  • What they did stays. Their past updates, feedback and activity entries remain on the trainees’ timelines.

When you cannot hand over

  • “There is no other active team member to assign to.” You are the only one left. Discard the tasks and remove the person from their trainees, or invite the replacement first.
  • “Couldn’t load what is assigned to this team member. Please try again.” Close the dialog and open it again.
  • If you choose Assign to, you must pick at least one other team member.

A good order of work

  1. Invite the replacement, if there is one. See Invite team members.
  2. Remove the person and assign their tasks and trainees to the replacement.
  3. Check the No coach filter on the trainee board.
  4. Tell the affected trainees who their new coach is.

Changing a role is not removing

To take admin rights away from someone who stays on the team, change their role to Team member on the Team page. See Team and roles.
