A technique video is a clip the trainee films of themselves doing an exercise. You decide, for each exercise in a program, whether the trainee can send one and when they are asked to.

Set the rule for an exercise

1

Open the rule

In the program builder, click the button in the Technique video column of the exercise row.
2

Pick a mode

Choose one of the three tabs described below.
3

Save the rule

Choose Save in the window, then save the program.

The three modes

The window shows a small demo of each mode so you can see what the trainee will meet.

Triggers for “By coach demand”

Pick one trigger or both. A summary line under the triggers spells out the result, for example “The trainee will be asked to upload a video: the first time the exercise is performed, every 5 performances”. With no trigger selected you see No trigger selected. The trainee will not be asked for a technique video on this exercise.

How the reminders are counted

Perform counts how many times the trainee has performed the exercise and how many videos they have sent for it.
  • The first-time trigger asks for one video.
  • The every-N trigger asks for one more video each time another N performances are reached.
  • Sending a video settles the current request. The next one comes when the next milestone is reached.
  • With both triggers on, the two add up. A trainee who sent their first-time video is asked again at the fifth performance when N is 5.
A performance is a workout in which the trainee marked at least one set of the exercise as done.
The reminder never blocks the workout. The trainee can choose Skip and carry on. A skipped request stays open and the reminder returns next time.

Apply one rule to the whole program

For No technique video and Free videos, the window offers Apply to all exercises, with the number of exercises in the program. Use it to set every exercise in every day at once. By coach demand is set per exercise, so this option is not offered for it.

Review a video

A new video creates a task for you.
1

Open the task

Go to Tasks. Technique videos appear as tasks of the type Technique video, one task per video.
2

Watch

Open the task and play the video. The panel shows the exercise name and when the video was uploaded.
3

Write your notes

Under Send technique notes, write what the trainee should fix next time.
4

Send

Choose Send feedback to the app. You see Feedback sent, the video is marked as reviewed and the task closes.
The trainee sees these points the next time they are about to perform this exercise. They stay on the exercise until the trainee dismisses them.

What else the task panel shows

The panel gives you context while you review: The video’s status reads Awaiting feedback, In review or Reviewed.

Ask for another video

In the same panel, choose Ask for a re-film next workout. The trainee is asked to film this exercise in their next workout, whatever the rule in the program says. Two limits apply:
  • Only the trainee’s primary coach can request a video.
  • The exercise has to be in one of the trainee’s active programs.

What the trainee does

In the app, an exercise that allows videos shows a technique video button. When a request is due, a popup titled Film a technique video opens with Film video and Skip. The trainee can record a new clip or choose one from their gallery. After sending, the exercise shows Video sent.

Tips

  • Use By coach demand with the first-time trigger on compound lifts for new trainees, so you see their form before they add load.
  • Keep Free videos on for exercises where a trainee may want a check now and then without being nagged.
  • Write feedback as short points the trainee can act on in the next session. They read it at the start of that exercise.
