The menu covers what you planned. This page covers everything else: a meal eaten out, an extra snack, a packaged product. All of these work on today and yesterday only. If the Nutrition tab is parked on an older day, a new meal is logged to today.

Add a meal with AI

Add a meal with AI on the Nutrition tab opens Add ingredient with three tabs: History, Favorites and New ingredient. It opens on New ingredient, where the trainee has two choices under Add with AI:
  • Photograph the meal: take a photo or choose one from the gallery,
  • Text description: type what was eaten. The hint says Describe the dish in as much detail as possible for an accurate result.
After Analyze the app opens a result screen.

The result screen

  • The meal name and the time.
  • The photo, when there is one.
  • Calories, protein, carbs and fat, or portions if your studio uses the portion system.
  • A short AI note about the estimate, when there is one.
  • Edit result: a box to correct the AI in words, for example “it was 200 grams of rice, not 100”. Analyze recalculates.
  • A heart at the top saves the meal to Favorites. Tapping it again removes it.
  • Add to menu logs it.
The meal joins the day as its own row, already marked as eaten and tagged Added with AI. The app confirms with Meal added to menu.

How the AI works out the numbers

The AI names each food it recognises and estimates its weight. For each food it first looks for the same food in your studio’s food library and uses those values. A food that is not in the library is looked up online, and only then estimated. So a studio with a complete food library gets results that match its own numbers.
An AI result is an estimate. Photos cannot show oil, sauces or exact weights. For a meal that matters, a text description with amounts is more accurate than a photo.
If the analysis fails the app shows Meal analysis failed. Please try again. A photo or description that is mainly alcohol or cannabis is not logged. The app answers with a light-hearted message and a single button instead.

Search the food library

On the New ingredient tab, typing at least two letters in Search ingredients searches the studio food library. Picking a food opens the result screen with an Amount control:
  • foods measured in grams step by 10 grams,
  • foods counted in units step by half a unit,
  • the trainee can type the amount as well.
Add to menu logs it as a meal of its own.

History and Favorites

  • History lists meals the trainee logged before. Tapping one opens it on the result screen, ready to add again.
  • Favorites lists meals saved with the heart. A favourite can be removed from the list.
The search box filters both lists by name. Empty lists read No history yet and No favorites yet.

Add a meal manually

Add a meal manually opens New meal. The hint reads Add foods, tune amounts or values, and the meal joins today’s menu.
1

Name the meal

The title starts as New meal. Tap it to rename it.
2

Add foods

Add food opens the same add sheet used inside a meal: search the library, scan a barcode, or describe a food for an AI estimate.
3

Adjust

Each food has an amount control, and its values can be corrected. A Left today summary at the top shows what the meal does to the day.
4

Save

Add meal saves it. The meal appears on the day tagged Added manually. It is not marked as eaten yet, so the trainee ticks it on the Nutrition tab.
Tapping an added meal on the Nutrition tab opens it again for editing, and the button reads Save meal. Delete removes it.

The add sheet inside a meal

Add inside a planned meal opens Add ingredient with the line Search an ingredient or describe it with AI.
  • Search ingredients shows up to eight matches from the food library, each with its values at a default amount. Tapping one adds it.
  • Scan barcode opens the scanner.
  • Under or, a text box takes a description. Calculate values returns an AI estimate with Add.

Scanning a barcode

1

Open the scanner

Scan barcode opens Scan product barcode with the hint Point the camera at the product barcode. The first time, the app asks for the camera. Without permission it shows Camera access is needed to scan barcodes and Allow camera access.
2

Scan or type

The scanner reads the standard retail barcodes found on packaged food. Torch turns the phone light on for dark shelves. If the camera cannot read the code, the trainee types the digits under Or type the barcode… and taps Search.
3

Check the product

While it searches the app shows Looking up the product…. A found product is shown with its name and values.
4

Add it

Add to meal adds the product. Scan another product scans the next one.
If nothing matches, the app says the product was not found and suggests trying again or typing the barcode. Product data comes from Open Food Facts, a public product database, and the scanner credits it with Nutrition data: Open Food Facts. Coverage depends on what is in that database, so some local products will not be found. Those can be added by search or by description.

What counts toward the day

Everything added on this page counts in Left today, on the home screen and in what the coach sees:
  • a meal added with AI or from search counts as eaten the moment it is added,
  • a food added inside a planned meal counts once it is ticked,
  • a manual meal is added unticked. It counts once the trainee marks it as eaten with the check on its row.
