Create a list
1
Select the trainees
On the Clients page, filter the list to the audience you want and tick the trainees. The selection bar appears.
2
Click Create mailing list
The window says how many selected trainees will be added to a new SmartSend mailing list.
3
Name the list
Type a name under List name, for example “January challenge”. Click Create list.
4
Continue in SmartSend
The new list opens in SmartSend in a new tab, as long as your SmartSend organisation slug is saved in Business settings. Build and send your campaign from there. Without the slug, the list is still created and you open it from SmartSend yourself.
Trainees with no phone number
A mailing list is made of phone numbers, so trainees with no phone are left out. The confirmation message tells you how many were skipped. If none of the selected trainees has a phone number, no list is created. The same number is never added twice. Two trainees who share a phone become one contact.Limits
If creating the list fails
You see “Could not create the mailing list in SmartSend”. Common reasons:- The name is already used. SmartSend does not allow two lists with the same name. Try again with a different name. The message does not say this is the reason, so check the name first.
- SmartSend refused every number. When none of the contacts could be added, Perform removes the empty list so you are not left with a list that has nobody in it.
- SmartSend is not answering. Try again in a few minutes.
Updating a list
Perform creates new lists. It does not add trainees to an existing list or remove them. To refresh an audience, create a new list with a new name, or edit the list in SmartSend.Ready-made audiences inside SmartSend
SmartSend’s campaign wizard can also pull an audience straight from Perform. The audiences are:
Only active trainees are included. Trainees with no phone number are skipped and counted. Each audience carries a few personal details, such as the trainee’s name and coach, that you can use as variables in the SmartSend message.
This is set up on the SmartSend side. Ask your SmartSend contact if you do not see it.
