The program builder is one screen. The table of exercises is in the middle and a preview of the trainee app is on the side. The same builder opens for a program template and for one trainee’s personal plan.

The top bar

The builder does not save as you type. Choose Save before you leave. If you try to leave with unsaved changes, Perform stops and asks what to do.

Training days

A program is made of training days. Each day is a chip above the table. A new program starts with one day and one empty exercise row that reads Select exercise. Click it to pick your first exercises. You cannot delete the last remaining day.
The order of days matters to the trainee. The app suggests the day after the last one the trainee completed as the next workout. Reordering days does not lose any logged history.

Workouts per week

The Workouts per week stepper sits next to the day chips. It runs from 1 to 7 and starts at 3. It is a separate number from the count of training days, so a program with four days can ask for three workouts a week. Perform uses it for the weekly cardio total and for the weekly workout target shown in tracking.

Add exercises

1

Open the picker

Choose Add strength exercise under the table.
2

Find exercises

Search by name or narrow the list with the same filters as the exercise library: type, muscle group, target muscle, secondary muscle and equipment. If the list is long you see how many are shown and a prompt to narrow it down with the filters.
3

Select and add

Tick as many exercises as you want, then choose the button that reads, for example, Add 3 exercises.
Each exercise becomes a row in the day. New rows copy their sets, reps and rest from the first exercise of the day. See auto-fill. To swap the exercise on an existing row, click the exercise name on that row and pick another one.

The table

Every row has a running number, so you and the trainee count exercises the same way. The last column holds the row actions: Alternatives and Delete. Details for each group of columns:

Optional columns

Tempo and RIR are off by default. Next to Columns:, click a chip to show or hide the column. The choice is saved with the program. Turning on RIR also shows an RIR column to the trainee in the app. See RIR.

Reorder and delete rows

Drag a row by its handle to move it. A superset moves as one block, so both exercises stay together. Choose Delete on a row to remove it. Deleting the first exercise of a superset removes its partner too.

Coach notes

Click the Coach notes cell to write a note for that exercise and choose Confirm. The trainee sees it under Coach instructions on the exercise in the app.

Cardio and daily steps

Under the table is the Cardio / daily steps requirement panel. It adds a cardio goal, a daily steps goal or both to the program. See Cardio and daily steps.

The app preview

The panel on the side is labeled Client preview. It shows the selected day roughly as the trainee sees it: the exercise cards, sets, the superset marker, the technique video chip and the cardio card. It updates as you edit. When you edit one trainee’s personal plan, the label shows the trainee’s name instead.

Save

Choose Save. A program with no name is saved as “Program”. When you are editing a library template, saving keeps you in the builder. When you are editing one trainee’s plan, saving takes you back to where you came from. See Trainee plans.
