A workout has two states in the app. Before the trainee starts, it is a preview they can read. After they start, it becomes a live log with a clock, a table of sets and a rest timer.

Preview

Tapping a workout opens the preview. Nothing is recorded yet. The top shows the workout name, a Start button and three numbers: Exercises, Sets and Est. time. Each exercise is a row with its picture, its muscle group, the prescription such as 4 × 8-12, and the rest time. Tapping a row opens it:
  • a small table of every set with the prescribed Reps and kg,
  • Tempo, when you set one,
  • How to, which opens the exercise instructions and video,
  • Notes, which opens your notes for this exercise,
  • Substitute, when you approved alternatives for it.
If the workout has a cardio block, its card appears under the exercises with the note Start the workout to record your cardio. Start workout at the bottom, or Start at the top, begins the workout. If another workout is already running, the app first asks Discard workout? and warns Your logged sets will be lost.
Start workout on the home card or on the plan list skips the preview and starts the workout straight away.

Workout mode

Once started, the top bar changes. It shows a running clock, a Finish button, the count of sets done such as 5/18 Sets, a percentage and a progress bar. The down arrow next to the workout name minimises the workout. It keeps running, and a bar above the tabs brings the trainee back to it from anywhere in the app.

The set table

Each exercise shows a table with one row per set. Above the table are the exercise’s action buttons: How to, Substitute when alternatives exist, Coach instructions when you wrote a note, and Send technique video when technique videos are on for the exercise. Cardio-style exercises with no sets show a single Do exercise button instead of a table. After tapping it the button reads Done ✓ · Again.

Entering weight and reps

  • Tap the kg or Reps box and type a number.
  • For reps there is also a quick picker. Press and hold the Reps box and slide up or down to choose a value from the prescribed range, then let go.
  • Tapping anywhere on a row jumps to the first empty box in that row.
The grey numbers inside empty boxes are suggestions:
  • Reps shows your prescription for that set. For a range such as 8 to 12 the suggestion is the low end.
  • kg shows what the trainee lifted on that same set last time. It stays empty the first time, because a prescribed weight is a target and not something they lifted.
If the trainee ticks a set without typing anything, the grey suggestions are saved as the result. If they change the weight on set 1, sets 2 and 3 do not follow. Each set stands on its own.
The trainee cannot add or remove sets during a workout. The number of sets is the one in your plan.

RIR

RIR means reps in reserve: how many more reps the trainee could have done. The column appears only when you turn it on in the plan. Tapping the RIR box opens a short list: 0, 1, 2, 3, 4+. Before a set is done the box shows your target RIR in grey. If the trainee never touches it, nothing is saved for RIR on that set. Your target is not recorded as their answer.

The rest timer

When a set is ticked, the rest timer starts by itself with the rest time you set for that exercise. A bar slides up from the bottom with the countdown and a Skip button.
  • There is no rest after the very last set of the workout.
  • An exercise with no rest time does not start a timer.
  • The timer keeps counting when the trainee leaves the app or locks the phone.
When rest ends and the app is not on screen, the phone shows a notification. Its wording comes from your studio’s notification settings on the web, where the alert can also be turned off. If notifications are blocked on the phone, the app warns once when the first rest starts: Notifications are off, so you will not get the rest alert.

Super-sets

Exercises you linked as a super-set appear together in one card tagged Superset, with a line such as 2 exercises · shared timer and one rest time. The trainee does set 1 of each exercise in the card, and the rest timer starts only when that round is complete. The rest time used is the one on the first exercise of the super-set.

Personal records during the workout

When a ticked set beats the trainee’s record for that exercise, the row is highlighted, confetti plays and a message appears: 🎉 New PR! with the weight and reps. The rule is explained in Personal records and history.

Leaving and coming back

A started workout is saved on the phone after every change.
  • Minimising, switching tabs, locking the phone or the app being closed by the phone does not lose anything.
  • Reopening the app within six hours of the start brings the workout back exactly as it was, including a rest timer that was running.
  • After six hours an unfinished workout is dropped.
The Home tab shows Continue training and the Workouts tab shows the workout as In progress.

Reminders for a workout left open

The phone reminds the trainee in two cases, both sent by the app itself:
  • No activity for an hour. If the workout is running, some sets are still open, and no set was ticked for 60 minutes.
  • All sets done but not finished. If every set is ticked and the trainee did not tap Finish within 15 minutes.
Tapping either reminder opens the workout. The wording comes from your studio’s notification settings, and each reminder can be turned off there. A trainee can also mute them under Workout reminders. See Notifications.

Finishing

Finish at the top or Finish workout at the bottom ends the workout. If every set is ticked, it is saved at once. If some sets are open, the app asks Finish incomplete workout? with Some sets are still uncompleted. What would you like to do? and two buttons:
  • Finish workout (without N sets), where N is the number of open sets. The workout is saved. Open sets are saved as skipped, with no weight or reps invented for them.
  • Back to workout.
What is saved: the date, the duration, and for each set whether it was done, the weight, the reps and the RIR if given. A set done with no weight, such as a bodyweight set, is saved without a weight. If saving fails, the app shows Failed to save workout, please try again. and the workout stays open so nothing is lost. After a successful save the trainee lands on the share screen. See Sharing a workout.

Discarding

Discard workout at the bottom of the workout asks Are you sure you want to discard this workout? and warns All completed sets will be discarded. The choices are Discard workout and Go back to workout. A discarded workout is not saved anywhere.

If the workout does not load

With no connection the screen shows Could not load workout. Check your connection and try again. and a Try again button.
